I love mystery shopping and it is one of my favourite side hustles. Not only is it a good way to make a bit of extra cash but it is also good fun with lots of free meals and products too.
What is Mystery Shopping
Mystery shopping is used by companies to measure the level of service provided by their employees. These companies use a number of agencies to employ mystery shoppers and gain certain information about their products and services.
The mystery shopper is just that, a mystery. They have to stay unknown to the company and act just like a normal customer. They then report back to the agency by answering a series of questions and uploading photos. In return, receive payment for their work.
There are a number of mystery shopping agencies around, I’ve only worked for a few of them and my favourite is Market Force. It has a lot of available assignments and most of them are eating out in restaurants. That’s what I love about this site, getting paid to go out for lunch. They are always well known companies and some of my favourite restaurants pop up from time to time.
How it works
The way it works, Market Force have a number of available assignments in your area, you can choose which ones you want to apply for. To apply for an assignment, you need to answer a few questions in a survey and then the job is allocated to you for the day you selected.
You then have an assignment spec which tells you everything you need to do. It tells you what you need to order and certain questions that need to be asked to the staff members. You also need to take photos of the food and location.
Once you have visited the location, you will need to complete a report answering a few questions and detailing your experience. This can be done via the Market Force app which makes it really easy to do and it only takes a few minutes to complete.
Although most of the assignments with this company are restaurant based, they do sometimes have other jobs available, I have been paid to ask a couple of questions in high street retailers, received free sandals for my daughter and discounted perfume that I had been wanting to buy for a while.
Market Force is a good mystery shopping company to start off with, the assignments are all very easy and the reports are simple to complete. This will get you hooked and you will want to try more mystery shopping jobs.
