May has whizzed past us, the month went so quick again but I had quite a good, productive month. I have been working hard on my savings challenge and also planning ahead for my blog.
This month has been a good month. The weather is getting nicer now so we have been out and about quite a bit. Trips to the park, pets corner or just running around over the field with a ball. The kids love it and it doesn’t cost a penny. I’ve also been out in the garden, making it summer ready so the kids have enjoyed playing out there a lot. It’s so nice for them to go outside after dinner and use up their last bit of energy for the night.
The weather is finally improving, we’ve had a few really warm days here. The kids have spent so much time in the garden. I’m sure they would spend the whole day out there if they could! We’ve been having lunch and dinner in the garden and the kids love having picnics out there.
Money Making Challenge
In April, I set myself a challenge to earn an extra £500 from side hustles. I want to start redecorating my house, I’m not sure how much it will all cost but I thought it would be a good start to get going on it. I’ve thrown myself into a few side hustles and really upped my income.
The main side hustle in May was working as a poll clerk for the elections. I do this every year, it is a long day, 16 hours in total but I really enjoy it. I always work at the same station with the same people so it’s quite a nice day. It is also quite good money and this will be going straight to my savings goal. Total earned was £146
My favourite side hustle is always matched betting, I only do around 20-30 minutes each evening at the moment but it all helps. The total I made from this in May was £276.70
I also carried out some mystery shopping. These aren’t high earners, each one only earns around £2-£3 but I get free meals by doing them. (And it also saves me cooking which is an extra bonus!) I only managed to get three in May and made a total of £5.80. Plus free lunch for me and the kids each time.
This month, I had a good sort out of things we don’t need or use anymore. I got rid of some toys which the kids don’t play with anymore, old clothes I haven’t worn for ages and a few other bits and bobs that haven’t been used for a while. I did a boot sale on bank holiday Monday as I just wanted everything gone and not lying around the house. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very busy so didn’t do as well as hoped but still made a profit. The total I made from decluttering was £32
Total towards saving so far £460.50
I’m so happy with how this month went with side hustles. Working at the elections was a huge help and really bumped up my total. I’ve pretty much reached my target in just one month.
Also this month I have spent a lot of time working on my blog, trying to get it to where I want it to be and really focus on helping my readers. I actually signed up for a course at the end of April called #myblogmybusiness run by Emma Drew. I have found it so helpful and it has given me so many new ideas that I can’t wait to share with you all .
